Eligibility for Professionals
Mississippi allows the following provider types to participate the MS Medicaid EHR Provider Incentive Program:
- Physicians
- Dentists
- Nurse Practitioners
- Certified Nurse Mid Wives
- Physicians Assistant (serving under the supervision of a Physician in a Federally Qualified Health Clinic – FQHC or a Rural Health Clinic – RHC)
- Optometrists
Mississippi requires Eligible Professionals (EPs) to have an active Medicaid ID, and verify they are seeing Medicaid patients in an ongoing manner. Medicaid Patient Volume must be at least 30% of all patients seen over a chosen 90-day period (20% for Pediatricians). Eligible Professionals (EPs) must provide evidence of Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) by entering the product certification number in the MS State Level Registry (MS SLR). Eligible Professionals (EPs) may elect to receive the EHR Incentive Payment themselves or designate the payment go to an established affiliated payee group.
Eligibility for Hospitals
Mississippi allows the following Hospital types to participate in the MS Medicaid EHR Provider Incentive Program:
- Acute Care Hospitals
- Critical Access Hospitals
Mississippi requires that Eligible Hospitals provide Cost Reports for four continuous years under their current CCN identification. Medicaid Patient Volume must be at least 10% of all patients seen over a chosen 90-day period. This includes patients seen in an inpatient setting and patients seen through the hospital’s emergency department. Eligible Hospitals in Mississippi are usually eligible to receive EHR Incentive payment s from Medicare as well. We refer to these hospitals as Dually Eligible Hospitals.
