Medical Care Advisory Committee

The Mississippi Medical Care Advisory Committee, also referred to as the Medicaid Advisory Committee, is an advisory committee required by federal regulation to advise the Division of Medicaid about health and medical care services in accordance with 43-13-107(3) and 42 CFR 431.12. The Advisory Committee currently is comprised of not less than eleven members appointed by the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives; certain state legislators; and other committee members appointed as provided in the federal regulation applicable to the Advisory Committee.

* On November 1, 2024, the Division asked for an Official Opinion from the Attorney General to ensure compliance with all regulations governing the Medicaid Advisory Committee including requirements effective July 9, 2024. An update will be offered when an opinion is received from the Attorney General on this matter. 

* In accordance with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Ensuring Access to Medicaid Services Final Rule (CMS-2442-F), the Mississippi Division of Medicaid is in the process of establishing the MAC with a dedicated Beneficiary Advisory Council by 2025.
