Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans (DSNPs) serve members who are eligible for both Medicaid and Medicare, known as “dual eligibles.” DSNPs offer care coordination and provide supplemental benefits to their members to improve coordination of services and enhance quality of care. Dual eligible individuals have the option to enroll in a DSNP during the following Medicare election periods:
- Initial Enrollment Period (IEP) is a seven-month period which begins three months prior to the month containing your 65th birthday. It includes the entire month of your birthday and continues for three months after that month.
- Annual Election Period (AEP) is a period that runs from October 15th to December 7th every year. Any changes you make will take effect on January 1st of the following year.
- Special Enrollment Period (SEP) is a period that may occur due to a qualifying life event at any time of the year. You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period for several reasons, including moving out of your current plan’s service area, losing creditable group health insurance due to employment ending, etc.
There are fifteen (15) Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans available for Calendar Year 2025 to serve the Medicaid and Medicare dually eligible population in Mississippi. Since not all DSNP plans in Mississippi serve the entire state, covered counties for each plan are identified in the chart. For additional information on a particular plan, please contact the plans at their customer service number provided.
