Who Qualifies for MississippiCAN?

Beneficiaries eligible to be a part of this program are those that receive Medicaid through:

  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Department of Human Services foster care children
  • Disabled child living at home
  • Working disabled
  • Breast/cervical cancer
  • Pregnant women and infants
  • Family/children on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
  • All newborns

Mandatory Population
These members must be in MississippiCAN. They can choose Magnolia Health, United Healthcare or Molina Healthcare. Choosing to keep regular Medicaid will not be an option.

Optional Population
Only those in the optional populations will have the choice of regular Medicaid or MississippiCAN.

Who cannot be a part of MississippiCAN

  • Beneficiaries in any waiver programs: Elderly and Disabled (ED), Independent Living (IL), Traumatic Brain Injury/Spinal Cord Injury (TBI/SCI), Assisted Living (AL), and Intellectual Disabilities/Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD)
  •  Beneficiaries who have both Medicare and Medicaid
  •  Beneficiaries who are in institutions such as: Nursing Facilities, Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/ID), Correctional Facilities, and others
